USV+Side scan sonar to detect waste water pipes

Some plants do not want to process their waste water so they can save a lot of work and costs. They just bury the discharging pipes underground till rivers and/or lakes.
When Environmental Protection Bureau finds the water is polluted, it is very difficult to find the pipes as the water is dark and even toxic.
Now, with unmanned surface vessels (USV) fixed with side scan sonar underneath, it is easy to find these pipes. The acoustic wave of side scan sonar can go into the pipes and reflect if there is water inside. As a result, a bright line shows on the scanning image as follows:
